Tips For Success
Congratulations on starting your own dropshipping business. I hope you find it as rewarding as we have. We have been droppshipping products since 1995 and have found it to be an enjoyable and profitable way to make money.
Dropshipping can be a full or part time business depending on how much effort you want to put into it.
Tips For Success
1. Our #1 tip for success would be to Know your product! We have ordered and used many of our trade directories. I am now semi-retired and don’t carry as many products, but when we first started dropshipping, we studied our trade directories and for a long time we sold novelty items and small electronics.
2. Our #2 tip would be to Know Your Clients! Our trade directories appeal to people who want to start their own business. What I’ve found (and this is only the experiences that we have personally experienced. You will have different experiences I’m sure) is that 95% of the people who purchase our books, will truly try to start their own business. The other 5% will order but not do anything w/ the information. This 5% is usually where the problems come in. I’ve had clients try to return merchandise 6 months after they have ordered it.! Imagine the condition they are in! Onto tip 3
3. Always know what your dropshippers policy is for returns is. We used to give a 30 day guarantee but many of our dropshippers have dropped their guarantee to 10 days and so have we. I feel the length of time of the warranty really depends on the item you are selling. Our directories can be easily copied and one of our publishers found that people where buying their merchandise, copying the materials and then mailing it back for a refund. Which leads us to tip 4.
4. Clearly state on your guarantee that all merchandise must be returned in re-saleable order. We don’t accept back books that have been written in, cut up, or clearly photo copied. You would be surprised at the merchandise we have rcvd back! Everything from the children coloring inside, spilled coffee, to ripped to pieces by, you guessed it, the dog!
